The aim of this passage is to cause us to understand God’s grace towards humanity
God has no obligation towards humanity as a whole or humans as individuals.
David praises God’s name whose majesty is demonstrated on the earth and reaches above the heavens. To silence His adversaries, God has ordained that children will praise Him. Looking at the splendid work that God has done in creating the heavenly bodies one wonders why would He care about humanity because He has made us only slightly less glorious that heavenly beings and given us the power to rule over all the earth and its inhabitants.
Romans 9:19-21 You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?” But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?
Daniel 4:34-35 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation; all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?”
Isaiah 45:9 “Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ or ‘Your work has no handles’? Woe to him who says to a father, ‘What are you begetting?’ or to a woman, ‘With what are you in labor?’”
